Julia Stasch is former president of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, one of the nation’s largest philanthropies. She joined the Foundation in 2001 and served as president from 2014-2019. Previously, Stasch was chief of staff to Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley; City of Chicago commissioner of housing, president of Shorebank Chicago Companies; deputy administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration, and president and COO of Chicago-based real estate development firm, Stein & Company. She is the chair of the board of MacArthur affiliate, Lever for Change and serves on the boards of P33 and Embarc Chicago. Previous roles include Philanthropy Executive in Residence at the Rustandy Center for Social Sector Innovation at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and Distinguished Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution’s Metro Program.
